Three areas at the Mennonite Home campus offer a stimulating and safe environment for a person with Dementia, Alzheimer’s disease or other related cognitive or functional impairments. In all three areas, to provide optimum safety, an electronic alert system signals staff if a person is leaving the secure area. These special areas offer:
|
Socialization and companionship
Structured programming
Purposeful activities
|
Supportive staff
Intentional environment
|
Assisted Living - Parkvue area
- Beginning signs of the dementia process are evident
- Staff provides assistance with reminders about activities, meal times and personal hygiene needs
- An attached porch gives a wonderful space for summer time gathering and gardening
Health Care - Oakvue area
- A person with moderate and severe signs of dementia can be cared for in a small secure environment
- People in this area are physically higher functioning and walk with minimal assistance from others
- Participating in outings and social events are some of the most enjoyable times for these folks
Health Care - Rosevue area
- A person with moderate and more severe conditions of the dementia disease process can be cared by an expert clinical care team in a secure environment.
- Shadow boxes for folks to display pictures or memorabilia and a country kitchen to smell fresh baked cookies, give this area a home-like feel.
In these special care areas, folks with the dementia diagnosis are encouraged to thrive and be who they are as their own memories grow very dim. Our caring staff attempts to provide the light of reminiscing and dignity during the shadowing days.
